Injection Molding Clamp Force Requirements

injection mold clamping forceIn plastic injection molding, clamping force is required to hold the mold halves together while they’re being filled, under pressure, with the molten plastic.

The force required by the injection molding machine to hold the mold together is expressed in clamp tonnage. A “200 ton” machine, for example, is capable of creating a clamping force equivalent to a total of 200 tons.
